Resting with hubby after a some hike at Whirlpool Trail
Why Niagara Falls?
Each of us normally has a bucket list about what we want to do and where we want to do it. One of them for me is to visit and enjoy the view of Niagara Falls when I visit Canada one day. True, Niagara Falls could be viewed from both the USA and Canada. But after doing my research, I decided Canada offers a better view.
I visited my cousin and family in New Market, Ontario. Therefore, I combined this trip with visiting Niagara Falls as well. If one day you make your trip to Toronto, please do visit Niagara Falls as well.
Added rainbow as a bonus from our trip there
How to go to Niagara Falls from Toronto?
It is as easy as one click. There are more than one ways for sure. But if you don’t drive like me, you can just take the bus. More bus operators are available to take you to Niagara Falls. But since I have lived in Europe for quite some time, Flixbus is my choice. If you want to try another bus, Megabus seems to be a popular choice as well. You can adjust the timeline and also budget for booking your ticket online. The bus will be there at least 10 Minutes before leaving, so be on time. The ride itself would take around two hours starting from 9.90EUR for a single trip.
Where to stay?
Since the ride to go there is not long, one might do the Niagara Falls the same day from Toronto. However, if you need a decent budget place to stay, Falls Lodges & Suites could be your preference. We stayed there for a night for 63CA$. The price is already included with the VAT, local tax, and continental breakfast. Do note that parking will cost you additionally. However, since we didn’t drive, we didn’t have to pay an additional cost.

Standard Continental Breakfast – Coffee, orange juice, jam & yogurt were there (but just not on camera), pancake, toast, donuts, muffins, butter, peanut butter, and jam. Cereal was available, but I didn’t take it
What to eat?
Just like in most places in Canada, you will not have trouble finding food. There are a lot of options on where to go for eating depending on your preference and budget. We wanted to try fast food, therefore we went to Popeyes. Aside from that, we tried Coco’s Pizza for a nicer ambience. The place offered you live music as well, besides their stonebake pizza and draft beer. On our last day in Niagara, we tried Applebee as well. If you watched Carol & The End of The World, you would know this reference.
Popeyes Bundle – 6 Boneless, 6 Wings with Gravy & Coleslaw, Buttermilk Ranch & Honey Mustard Sauce, 1 Big Cola Zero for 25.79CA$ before tax
Coco’s Special Pizza for 24.99CA$ before tax – finger licking good, Dave couldn’t resist the melted cheese sexy look
Applebee’s Poutin for 20.00 CA$ before tax – imho Poutin (fries and melted cheese topped with gravy is a must try if you are in Canada
What else to do in Niagara?
There are a lot of things that you can do there, but they are all centered on the Falls themselves and you need to pay. However, do note that to enjoy the Falls itself, it is FREE. You can just walk along the Falls and enjoy the breathtaking view.
If you are done with the Falls and want to do another thing. You can just hike to the Whirlpool Trail.
Whirlpool Trail is located more or less one hour by foot from the Falls. Being in Germany after some time has made me used to hiking. So, it was a fun thing to do. Just like any hiking, there are some things that you need to prepare such as:
- sunscreen
- water bottle
- sport or hiking shoes
- insect repellant
- a healthy condition to hike
They are important since you will be welcomed by stairs and stoney ground. But you can always take a rest on the way if you are tired.
View of Niagara Whirlpool – they called it whirlpool bcs of the swirling in the middle of the river. My camera didn’t get that sadly
Pro Tip – Bring your rain jacket and Gore Tex textile with you since you will get splashed from the Falls.
Note – The prices are based on my travel in September 2024. Every tip is based on my personal experience and not legal advice. There is no affiliate link on this article.
