Indonesian girl, part-time nomad that resides in Germany – for now

Even though I am sure that I can not be categorized as a girl anymore, I am still a girl at heart. I mean, aren’t we all a child at heart? I moved from my home country in late 2016 to pursue my Master degree in International Marketing. Life was comfortable back then and there was nothing with it, really. But there was this feeling in those early 20s that said that ”Go! Explore the world and learn something outside the book!”
So there it went, the only thing I knew was I was preparing my stuff to pursue my degree in Poland. From there, the journey door seems to keep opening. I continued my internship in one of the most beautiful cities in Spain, Sevilla. Then I was accepted for a scholarship program in Belgium, met my husband, back then my future husband, on a short holiday to visit my uncle in Germany, and ended up here now in Hamburg to live with the love of my life. Now we are on our journey in exploring the world.
However, things have not been as smooth as they seem. Even though I have been moving here and there in the last five years and have been living alone since I was 17 years old, let me tell you a secret. Well, maybe not a secret for some people that have been experiencing it. Moving to another country and starting your life from zero is super challenging. Hence, when you know nobody nor speak the language.
Literally every single thing that has never ever crossed your mind that you would experience could happen. It can be that challenging lady in the immigration office, official letters from authorities that you have to take care of, and just yet another A to Z to-do-things that do not seem to be ending soon. It can be overwhelming and it will be. You would feel lost, might just want to take a break, or even give up. But time goes on, no matter how bad you want it to stop just for a moment.
However, just like two sides of a coin, these are also opportunities for one to grow. Smooth sea would not make a skillful sailor, but being resourceful and skilful may take one further in life. In addition, one can also have fun traversing life and uncovering meaningful journeys. These past years I have met a lot of amazing people, broadening my friendship and network beyond borders, accepting the opportunities and practicing my creativity more than ever. These are just some of the main things that you can get from leaving home. That’s how powerful courage is. Now my focus is to share and perhaps inspire people who want to start a similar journey too. It all started from a single click anyway 🙂
