7 Days Nevada

7 Days Nevada

Chasing sunset at The Grand Canyon –

If you want to visit Las Vegas, explore the desert nature of Nevada, and finally take a look at the infamous Grand Canyon, then scroll further because I will take you there.

Nevada is famous for the reasons above.

Depending on how long and intense your planned activities in Nevada are, if you want to enjoy Nevada with its attractions, 7 days are enough imho. And below is how I broke the itinerary.

Where to stay?

We stayed in Las Vegas since this is the easiest access point to see all the main national parks and try the popular strip walking. Our hotel was the Rio Hotel & Casino.

Plus – cheap since we got offer from TUI for 50€ per night, a solid 4* hotel with free parking

Minus – not located direct in the Strip and seems a bit outdated

Day 1

Visiting Red Rock Canyon – Red Rock Canyon National Park is the nearest one from the city. With less than a 30 Minutes Ride, you will be there. This park is best to be enjoyed with a ride since it offers a Scenic Drive Loop, where one can easily follow one way driving with some designated parking spots, so you can enjoy the scenery, educate, and take pictures.

Price? It cost us 20$ to come in for a single car with 2 people.

Hours? Scenic Drive is open from 10 AM until 8 PM.

Day 2

Walking the Strip – If you have never been to Las Vegas, just imagine what you have probably seen in Hangover or How I Met Your Mother, they are true and the city is just so alive at night.

The lights will invite you to live the city and of course, spend your money!

However, there is no way to feel the vibe of the city without walking the Strip. Strip is the popular destination for Las Vegas visitors where it is filled with the main hotels & casinos. The most eye-catching ones are probably the country themed hotels, such as Italian or France.

How? You can start Bellagio and just walk until York (America themed hotel).

What to prepare? Wear your comfy shoes, in summer bring water, wear your sun protection tools as well as clothes made of cotton

Paris in Las Vegas

New York in Las Vegas

Egypt in Las Vegas

Day 3

Visiting the Grand Canyon – There are more entrances for the Grand Canyon. However, if Las Vegas is your start, the shortest gate that you will head to is Grand Canyon West with self driving which will take 2.15 hours approx.

How much? The price is 51.00$ per Person. They don’t count entrances by car. Therefore, they provide buses to take you from one to another viewing point.

Do note there are also the other cheapest entrances, which are Grand Canyon South Rim OR North Rim. They count the entrances per car which for 1 Car with 2 Person is 35$ BUT they are way further.

Read more about the updates below.

IF YOU STILL HAVE TIME, do visit Joshua Trees Forest – A forest full of Joshua Trees which is also on your way if you drive from Las Vegas to Grand Canyon West. The forest is free to visit and the best time to visit should be when the sun is still out, since precaution of snakes on the field is advised.

Day 4

Resort & Casino Day – Normally if one stays in Las Vegas, one will stay in the Hotel & Casino. Therefore, there is direct access to the casino maschine. And when one stays in the hotel with a casino, it is normally equipped with some nice pools and whirltubs. Well, this is your time to enjoy your pool & casino. Please note – be aware of your spendings during the casino’s plays.

While enjoying the pool

Day 5

Visit Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art & University of Nevada – This is an art museum with a native plant garden located on the University of Nevada, Las Vegas campus.

How much? An entrance is free of charge.

How was it? The art exhibitions offer interesting pieces and collections. Some of them are personal and touchy, however it was all in one a worth it experience.

Day 6

Walking the Strip Part 2 – The strip is huge! I decided to walk the path again after realizing things I missed from the first walk.

So, unlike the first walk where my main focus is to do sightseeing with the hotels & casinos. And this time I did it during the evening to reduce the heat.

So, during my one week in Las Vegas, I found some free or cheap things that one can absolutely do in this so-called Sin City without committing sin 🤫 Read here for more FREE alternatives.

Squeezy @ Coca Cola Store

Eleven Figure complete with the nosebleed @ Stranger Things Shop – btw notice the background?

Hershey’s also sells cookies and other sweet delicacies

Day 7

Preparation to check out – Honestly I didn’t do so much on my last day in Las Vegas. Since my flight was rather late, I had time to sleep out, double checked my luggages and flying arrangement.

Note – Points above are based on personal experience and not legal advice.

      Hello Paul & Lorraine,

Nevada was a short but sufficient trip to cover what we wanted to do there. We personally think that we would not be able to do it longer because of the heat… Anyway I am happy to be able to transport you shortly to Nevada from Niagara hehe. Thank you for reading the piece and I wish you both a great day! 😀
