On the pause @ Joker Hill
I love Canada! What is not to love about a peaceful country with its friendly people? However, Canada’s nature is what striked me the most. Coming from Germany to Canada, I realized how unpacked Canada is. Don’t get me wrong, downtown Toronto is crowded. But, if you compare the size of the land and how the population is, Canada is huge! Let’s put an example to a comparison. Canada is twice as large as Germany but Germany has double the population than Canada. That is more or less how much land the country has.
I stayed most of the time at my cousin’s home, which is in New Market, Ontario. And I was happy because in just a 10 minutes walk, Dave and I were already in nature, Joker Hill forest. Joker’s Hill is not just a forest. It is a part of a wider protected nature area, which is Thornton Bales Conservation Area. So, when one hikes, be sure to follow the golden rule, which is take nothing but pictures. And kill nothing, but time.

But there is more. As we walked to the shopping center, we passed by a neighborhood of a suburb. And it is not your ordinary suburb walk I guarantee because this is the view that I experienced during the walk.

Besides the trees and green, there was also wildlife that were there on a daily basis. I couldn’t count how many squirrels, chipmunks, geese, and colorful sparrows that I saw during my time there. Sadly for me, most of them are superfast, so I could not capture them properly.
And what about some water elements? No question, Canada has beautifully and internationally known water parts in the world, for example Garibaldi Lake, Niagara Falls, you name it. But, we didn’t have to go that far. We walked to Old Town New Market and continued to hike around Fairy Lake from there. We took a trip, which included Audrie Sanderson Park. There, one could educate themselves on why not to feed on ducks and geese.

However, the highlight would be Niagara Falls, wouldn’t it? Niagara Falls is a must when you visit Canada. You can of course visit it from the USA’s side. But, Canada’s side is more gigant, more breathtaking, and just more beautiful imho. Scroll down for comparison between the two Niagara’s sides.

Would you be in love with Canada’s nature as well?
