Seizing opportunity for a pic. @ Brooklyn Bridge
And so it is, 365 becomes 358 days…
Never have I ever thought that my days in New York would feel so fast. However, these past six days have shown me so. I could not say whether it is because New York is a gigant urban concrete jungle that keeps reminding me how small I am in comparison to the highrises surrounding me. Or is it just me, a walker who loves to explore my surroundings by foot, and I obviously haven’t seen it all with this pair of mine? As I looked around me counting how many happy dogs and busy walkers passed by, I reminisced again about my time here.
New York is huge indeed! The city gained its popularity from various movies and series that were shot there. And then it was popularized again by Alicia Keys and Jay-Z with their famous Empire State of Mind song. Among all the places there are offered, here are some of the highlights which I experienced during my one week stay:
1. Times Square – A place where you are presented with thousands advertisements from world known brands.
Greeted by Times Square
2. Empire State of Building – Remember the lyrics, “New York, concrete jungle where dreams are made of…”Capturing The Empire State
3. Central Park – If you watch Kevin in New York where he met the pigeon lady or Gossip Girl where Blair fed the duck, You when Joe hut Paige’s head during her jog, and other references, here is the place where these occurred. The part of Central Park where one can spot The Plaza
4. New York Public Library – The biggest public library in New York. They have more than one location, but the main one has the most complete collection and you can register for a free tour as well.Inside NYPL
5. Bryant Park – The park behind NYPL which one can chill, read with provided available books, play chess, table tennis and go to a proper public restroom. Can you guess where is NYPL from here?
6. Grand Central – The iconic station of many movies, like Die Hard 3 etc, or from Gossip Girl, where Serena caught Dan leaving Manhattan. The grand hall is just beautiful and it is one of the tourist attractions in the city.THE Hall
7. Chinatown – Mind Blowing place that would make you forget that you are in Manhattan.Seriously, are we still in Manhattan?
8. Little Italy – Located between Chinatown and the place if you wanna try Italian food.Little Italy’s Vibe
9. Koreatown – Best place in NY to buy Korean desserts, eatery, and beauty products.Imho, best NY corn dog should be from here
10. Spotting Lady Liberty – We didn’t go to a liberty island to spot the lady of liberty, but we took a ferry from Manhattan to Staten Island, which is free and from there we spotted the lady.Found her yet?
11. Highline Park – A park where you can enjoy Manhattan skyscrapers view for free accompanied with a peaceful walk. One of my favorite sightseeing
12. Ground Zero – The tragedy of 9/11 was being broadcasted everywhere. But how is it for now? They built a memorial from those tower with waterfall and the edges of the area were made by concrete with the name of the victims.I saw presumably one Indonesian name on the concrete
13. Brooklyn Heights – Charming neighborhood where it is rumored the oldest house in Brooklyn was built here. Some of the houses in Brooklyn’s Height
14. Brooklyn Bridge – The legendary bridge that connects Manhattan & Brooklyn. It is so iconic, so taking a good picture with it as a background might be a challenge. But the view is spectacular when one walks. One can spot Manhattan skyscrapers and Manhattan bridge. The iconic bridge
15. Brooklyn Park – The park that offers a peaceful long walk path and again, the skyscrapers of Manhattan.Spotting Manhattan
