@ Zürich, Switzerland
Switzerland is top notch and one of the most beautiful countries in the world, no matter where you are visiting. Travelling to Switzerland therefore has been a goal for a lot of avid travellers and nature lovers.
However it is not a secret that Switzerland is an expensive country. I felt that when I compared the prices in Switzerland with the prices in Indonesia. But, roll your sleeves and don’t get knocked out by this fact and pursue your Switzerland trip!
How to save money on Switzerland’s trip?
1. Plan your trip ahead
Trust me on this. Spontaneity is good, but it isn’t for your bank account if you want to travel to Switzerland. A detailed planning gives you an overview on your spending and avoids the unnecessary expense. If you know from the start that you would like to try skiing, then calculate the budget from the beginning. You can avoid the shock on the booking table on the day that you decided to spontaneously do it.

2. Wider your options for staying the night
Compare the hotels’ rate and make sure to check out Guest Houses as well as local housings. Simply just be more flexible. It really depends on your style though, but local housings like AirBnB (not affiliate) are in my personal opinion a good option for saving your budgets. The locations, prices and style are more vary. Plus, you can read the reviews from the other travellers. How convenient!

3. Stay in one place
Switzerland isn’t a big country and you might save your cost for mobility if you explore one city or town. You want to see the more city part of Switzerland, then pick one of the popular cities, i.e. Zürich, Basel, Geneva etc. But if you want to see nature, you might choose one of the lakes i.e. Lauterbrunnen, Interlaken, etc.

4. Do a daily trip from France or Germany
It (again) depends on where you wanna go. But if you are a first timer and your main goal is to full-fill your curiosity for Switzerland, you can check it out from these neighbouring countries, i.e. I did a day trip to Basel when I visited the Black Forest a.k.a. Schwarzwald.

5. Plan your eating out
Treat yourself while you are traveling? Duh! But always eat out for each meal time (breakfast, lunch, dinner)? Na-ah. Choose wisely when do you want to eat out daily.

6. Buy some food from groceries
It is a good idea! You can have a decent breakfast daily from your supermarket visit. Plus Rosti in Switzerland is to die for and you can get it easily from the local supermarket.

7. Check out local events
Some museums host free exhibitions and provide host visiting hours (depending on their programs and regulations), make sure to check them out at their websites.

8. Travel in a group
The main and fixed budget for your trip, i.e. car rental, apartment, group tickets, can be split more this way, making your expense a little bit less than if you travel in pairs or solo.
