Colmar – Is It A Town Worth Visiting?

Old Town @ Colmar

If Colmar doesn’t ring a bell for you, please make sure to check out my previous post. You might learn some fun facts about Colmar and just see how beautiful this town is as an introduction.

What to do in Colmar?

1. Stroll the Old Town
It might not sound so special if you have been to several old towns. But this old town is literally old since it has been preserved the same ever since. Strolling it will make you feel like travelling back to the 1920s.

2. Enjoy the view of Little Venice
The most picturesque area in Colmar, decorated by the sidewalk cafes, colorful ancient half-timbered houses and flowered-line canals. Take a boat ride for 6€ per person.

3. Visit Musee Bartholdi
And learn the history of the Statue of Liberty as a gift from France to US during American Revolution for free.

4. Have a French breakfast or even lunch at Au Croissant Dore
Trust me, it can’t get more authentic than this, run by an old couple that will make you feel homey instantly with their friendliness and delicacies.

5. Shop your souvenirs and gifts at The Village Hansi & Museum
There are thousands of choices of souvenirs and goods that one can have in a place, from kitchen utensils to sweets, from magnets to seasonings. I bet you might spend a longer time here more than you expect.

Do you love wine? If you don’t, you should give it a try! Colmar is located in the Alsace region and is most famous for its Riesling.

A sponge cake baked with raisins, almonds and cherry brandy. They even sell it in a small size, making it perfect for your take away snack 😀

8. Spend a night in Colmar and enjoy the nightlife
Colmar is definitely not Amsterdam, but it doesn’t mean that you can’t have a local brew in a nice pub there like The 3 Monkeys .
