Petting this brave calf @ Langeneß
Do you know that our earth is suffering more than ever? Things like air pollution, water pollution, climate change and uninhabitable places will be more common in the future if we do nothing. One of the recent tragedies that hit me the most is the big flood in West Europe; Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.
Coming from Indonesia, I am used to local news related to natural catastrophes. Located right on the equator line, Indonesia has its perks of having (dare I say) one of the most beautiful nature in the world, our mountains, beaches, and not to mention our biodiversity of flora and fauna. But, sadly these strengths are also likely to be the source of our natural disasters, i.e. earthquakes, volcanos, tsunami, etc.
However having quite the opposite from our landscape, West Europe apparently couldn’t avoid its tragedy that occured just two weeks ago. It was reported by many news channels as one of the deadliest floods that Germany has ever encountered, which then left at least 190 dead tolls. It was heartbreaking, but at the same time a snap of realization how one just can’t escape the reality of how this climate disaster can happen anytime and anywhere. One doesn’t have any place to escape and be safe, not anymore.
The horror didn’t stop there as the scientists predicted that we will likely see more of these events in the future. Hearing and watching all of these, shouldn’t it be the time that we actually do something? We need to throw away the mindset on how I as an individual wouldn’t have any impact on climate change. Well, my father always says if you want to change something, you should work on yourself first.

These are the simple daily actions that I’ve been making just to check whether or not I have been doing them or at least trying to do them this whole time:
▢ Avoid littering
▢ Recycle your trash
▢ Give up single use plastic
▢ Reduce your meat and seafood consumption
▢ Eat seasonal and local produce
▢ Turn off the lights when you don’t need them
▢ Shower not too long
▢ Ride your own bike
▢ Take public transportations
▢ Dress more consciously
How about you? How many boxes did you tick? Congrats if you are ticking more of than 5 boxes! Seriously 🙂
